During this 5-week session, teachers will explore the life of a significant person and help students gain specific vocabulary to describe such a person. Each week students will gather notes and craft a body paragraph to be included in the culminating biographical essay during week 4. The last week is dedicated to culminating activities.
As a boy he preferred reading sea stories to doing homework and, at age 16, became an apprentice seaman. Subsequently, Ernest Shackleton’s incredible journeys to the South Pole in the early 1900s made him one of the most famous explorers of modern times. Explore courage in the face of dangerous conditions and the life of this great leader.
