Description
Just like other kids, Zinkoff rides his bike, hopes for snow days, and wants to be like his dad when he grows up. But Zinkoff also raises his hand with all the wrong answers, trips over his own feet, and falls down with laughter over a word like Jabip.” Other kids have their own word to describe him, but Zinkoff is too busy to hear it. He doesn’t know he’s not like everyone else. And one winter night, Zinkoff’s differences show that any name can someday become “hero.”

Integrated Literature & Writing Discovery Guides
Level 2 Literature and Writing Discovery Guides are recommended for elementary (grades 3-5) students who are in the process of acquiring the proficiency necessary to confidently read and to respond to a complex piece of literature. Each guide is designed to be completed in five weeks, which allows students to comfortably work through six units in a typical school year.

Each week for four weeks, students will:
- Learn to take notes on characters, settings, and plot
- Study vocabulary
- Answer comprehension questions
- Write a short personal response
- Have opportunity to discuss topics related to the story
On the fifth week students are given a selection of hands-on projects to complete.
